MONDAYS

PE Club (3rd-6th)

An intramural and extra lesson of PE fun. Focus will be on fitness and the opportunity to participate in more games and sports not always covered during PE class.

 

Scratch Jr. Coding (K-2nd)

Scratch Jr is a visual programming language specifically designed for young children. In this course, children will use Scratch Jr to create interactive stories, games, and animations by dragging and dropping blocks to specify the actions of their program. In this course, children will have the opportunity to create their own narrated stories. In addition to using audio recordings, children will also learn how to use loops to repeat actions, control structures to make decisions, and variables to store and manipulate data. By the end of this course, children will have the skills to create their own interactive programs in Scratch Jr and be well on their way to becoming coding experts. Scratch Jr is a fun and engaging way for young children to learn the basics of coding in a safe and supportive environment.


 


TUESDAYS

Chess (K-6th)

Learn chess with Magnus Academy (formerly Silver Knights), world champion Magnus Carlsen’s academy!  We’ve taught 100,000 children to play including state and national champions, but most students are beginners looking to learn a new skill and have FUN. Class time is divided between lessons and practice games.  Lessons range from the basic rules to advanced tournament strategies. Students will have the opportunity to play in tournaments (in-person and online) outside of club time.  This in-person club includes free online extras including weekly practice tournaments and an event with world champion Magnus Carlsen or Judit Polgar, the best female chess player of all time.  All chess supplies provided. Baroody Bakes (K-6th)

There's never a time to say no to fresh baked breads and pastries. Each day, children will get a chance to create a yummy treat from pies to loaves of bread, cupcakes and biscuits. There is SURE to be something they find irresistible.

 

Soccer (K-3rd)

Love the Ball Mini Kickers Soccer will be the first soccer experience for many players where players will learn to love the ball. The program is based around fun fantasy based themes such as pirates, spaceships and superheroes. The curriculum introduces dribbling, shooting and changing of direction all while making new friends, interacting with peers, the coach and props.


WEDNESDAYS

LEGO® SPIKE™ Essential Robotics: Crazy Carnival Games (K-6th)

Step right up and join the fun with Lego SPIKE Robotics: Crazy Carnival Games! In this course, children will have the opportunity to explore the exciting world of carnival games as they build and code their own attractions. From bowling and pinball machines to hockey and mini-golf, children will be able to bring their game ideas to life through hands-on projects using everyday themes. As they work on their projects, children will continue to develop their computational thinking skills, including the ability to create and follow sequences, identify cause and effect, and understand simple loops. They'll also have the chance to practice testing and debugging programs to ensure that their creations are ready for the carnival.

 

Slime Time! (K-6th)

Who doesn't LOVE slime?! It's easy to make and is guaranteed to be FUN! Some are magnetic, some are inspired by famous wizarding books. Others are glittery or glow in the dark. It doesn't matter how we make it, it's the fun that comes in figuring it out. Our slime program is designed to see just how many ways and kinds of slime we can create. We'll discuss what an activator is and why no slime is complete without it. And, we will learn how different ingredients will change the outcome, texture and use of slime. Slime is awesome, but learning why it works is pretty cool too!


THURSDAYS

Spanish Cantando y Bailando (K-6th)

Spanish Cantando y Bailando is a fun approach to learning Spanish that is simple and effective. This course is designed to engage beginning students with little or no previous exposure or knowledge to Spanish. Students will be introduced to the sound system and grammatical structure of the Spanish language. Our focus will be on developing skills in the areas of speaking and listening through music, visuals, TPR method and fun games and activities. The instructor will incorporate ukelele lessons each class and teach students how to play the ukelele as well as learn Spanish songs! This is going to be a fun, interactive, and wonderful music class! The Gift of Language will provide ukeleles for students. Each session we provide new lessons for students so do not hesitate to have your child take this class again and again!

 

Ultimate Frisbee (2nd-6th)

Non-stop fun in this totally awesome program! In this super active program, players will learn the basics of Ultimate Frisbee. Each day will end with full games, but will begin with lead-up games and skill building to help them hone their skills of throwing, catching, and running. Players will also learn that ultimate is a game where kids referee themselves! They will share strategies, learn how to make their own calls fairly, and work with teammates to make the most out of every play. This program is open to players of all different skill levels and is guaranteed to be a blast!

 

Autumn Artifacts: Pottery from Around the World (K-5th)

This fall, embark on a cultural journey with "Autumn Artifacts: Pottery from Around the World" at Jimmy Potters' mobile pottery workshop! Each week, young artists will explore a new country, delving into its rich pottery traditions and crafting their own clay creations inspired by global masterpieces. From the intricate designs of Moroccan ceramics to the vibrant patterns of Mexican Talavera tiles, children will experience the beauty and history of diverse cultures. This workshop offers a unique blend of cultural education and hands-on creativity, perfect for sparking curiosity and artistic expression. Minecraft Creative Adventures (K-5th)

Minecraft: Creative Adventures is a course designed to help children tap into their creativity and problem-solving skills through the popular video game, Minecraft. In this course, children will have the opportunity to explore the vast and customizable world of Minecraft, using their imaginations to build and design their own structures, landscapes, and more. Along the way, they'll also have the chance to collaborate with their classmates and share ideas as they work together to bring their creative projects to life. By working together and sharing their thoughts and ideas, children will learn about the value of collaboration and the power of teamwork. This is a fantastic opportunity for children to learn and grow while having fun in the process!
